About Jason
|
Jason McKenzie was born and raised in Alberta, Canada and always preferred the cowboy way. From the time he was a kid he was building with his hands, anything from log porch swings, cabins and gun racks, to welding wood stoves and intricate work like fly tying. When Roy McCaughey invited him to come see his saddle shop one cold February day, Jason knew right away this was what he wanted to do, and he never left Roy's shop until he had learned the trade and built many custom saddles.

Roy McCaughey has been building saddles since 1949. When he saw that Jason had some real talent, he began to spend a lot of time teaching him the many tricks and skills of the trade.

When you walk into the shop and see the bare saddle trees, a few sides of leather, hundreds of hand tools, and a solid old stitcher, you begin to think about the amount of work involved in creating such a fine finished product.

Jason pays close attention to every little detail as he builds and in the end it really shows. Most know there is a world of difference between the hand crafted custom saddle and the saddle that rolls off an assembly line. When you get yours you will experience that difference first hand.
Jasons saddles are now in high demand and are being used by serious competitors and horsemen throughout Canada, the USA, and as far away as Germany!
